Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg were established on July 9, 1992.

In March 1996, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus paid an official visit to Luxembourg.

Previously, сontacts at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs were, as a rule, within the framework of international events.  The meetings of the Foreign Ministers of Belarus and Luxembourg took place at the summit of the EU Eastern Partnership initiative in Riga in May 2015 as well as at the Munich Security Conference in February 2016.

In September 2016, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn paid an official visit to the Republic of Belarus for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.

The Belarusian-European Economic Forum “Belarus. Invest in tomorrow” was held in Luxembourg in 2017. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus took part in the event.

In October 2017, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov met in Luxembourg with Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel. The parties discussed the areas and prospects for further bilateral cooperation.

Luxembourg’s approaches to the development of political dialogue with Belarus are forming in accordance with the common European Union line in relation to our State.
