Textiles

Belarus produces a wide range of high-quality textiles. More than 100 large enterprises of the textile industry of Belarus are members of the State Concern «BelLegProm».

There is also a great number of private small and medium companies, including those with foreign capital, acting in the textile business in Belarus. They represent approximately 40% of the sector.

Since 1 Jan 2010 European Commission introduced autonomous quotas on imports of several categories of Belarus textiles to the EU (before they were in force on the bases of a special bilateral agreement). Quotas do not have any economic reason and impact on trade, because they are never utilised in full volume.
