Legal Framework

The basis of the legal framework of Belarusian-Luxemburg relations consists of 2 international treaties. One intergovernmental agreement did not enter into force.

The following international treaties has been signed and entered into force:

 

  • Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on July 9, 1992;
  • Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on the improvement of health of the underage citizens of the Republic of Belarus in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on August 19, 2013.


The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Belgium-Luxembourg Economic Union on reciprocal promotion and protection of investments, dated April 9, 2002, has not yet entered into force. Belarus has fulfilled all necessary internal legal procedures in 2003. Up to date there is no confirmation from the Belgian Side about fulfillment of internal legal procedures necessary for its coming into force. After the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty on December 1, 2009, the regulation of investment issues is referred to the common trade policy of the EU.
