Memorial event dedicated to the Day of national memory of victims of the Great Patriotic War and genocide of the Belarusian people took place in Luxembourg

On June 25, 2023, a memorial event organized in cooperation with the Russian side on the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War / Day of National Remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people was held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Luxembourg with the participation of representatives of the diaspora.

Documentaries about the exploit of the Brest Fortress in June-July 1941 and about the modern memorial complex “Brest Hero Fortress” were shown.

Chargé d’Affaires of Belarus Ekaterina Shatokhina noted the heroism of the fortress defenders, who were among the first to take the blow of the Nazi invaders and held the defense in complete encirclement for more than a month.

The participants of the event honored the memory of wartime victims with a minute of silence.

The book “The Genocide of the Belarusian People: Information and Analytical Materials and Documents”, based on the materials accumulated by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus within the investigation of a criminal case on the fact of the genocide of the population of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period, was presented to the visitors.

Luxembourg-based Belarusian musician Tatyana Yaletskaya performed several compositions on cymbals.
