Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in connection with another package of sanctions imposed by the EU against Belarus

The depth of the absurdity of both the mere decision of the European Union to adopt the next package of sanctions against sovereign Belarus and its’ very content is difficult to comprehend.
The European officials invented some kind of aggression on the part of peaceful Belarus and, despite common sense, the facts provided, the initiated technical consultations and additional measures taken by the Belarusian side to curb illegal migration, hypocritically struck a sanctions blow.
For destructive purposes, the open demonization of our country has continued – the entire burden of responsibility is laid on Belarus while blatantly ignoring the true causes of the global migration crisis.
The goal of all this policy is to strangle Belarus economically, to make the life of Belarusians as difficult as possible. The pompous nonsense that is heard from the European tribunes, in this case, have nothing to do with reality.
Formally, relying on irresponsible mantras about increasing pressure, the EU remains deaf to the appeals of millions of the Belarusian workers demanding the abolition of these barbaric and inhuman measures.
On this path, the European Union does not care that tens of thousands of Belarusians and their family members, the European consumers, suppliers, businessmen and companies will suffer. Such “little things” mean nothing to them when they want to play geopolitics or satisfy certain pragmatic business interests.
That is why the package includes Belarusian enterprises that have nothing to do with the migration crisis. Nothing else but the desire to get rid of the competitors lies behind this.
Obviously, this pressure will be continued in a blind fury at the lack of a result. The expected result for the European politicians, in this case, is the destruction of Belarus as a sovereign, economically successful state.
This is not the first time Belarus has faced such challenges from the West. As before, the Belarusian state will get stronger, pass this stage with dignity and protect the appropriate standard of living of its population.
The destructiveness and futility of sanctions has long been obvious to all sane people, as well as their negative impact on both sides.
At the same time, solely as a response, we, as stated earlier, will take tough, asymmetric, but adequate measures.
The further this process goes, the more obvious its danger becomes for the stability and security of our region. And the entire blame falls solely on the initiator of the sanctions spiral and aggression – the European Union.
We still call the European politicians to come to their senses.
