Belarus and Belgium launch direct Minsk-Brussels flight
28.04.2017On April 27, 2017 the Brussels South Charleroi Airport hosted inauguration ceremony of the Minsk-Brussels-Minsk flight by the BELAVIA National Airline Company. The launch of the new flight coincides with the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Belgium.
The official opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Belgium Aleksandr Mikhnevich, Deputy Director of BELAVIA Igor Tcherginets, Minister of Agriculture, Nature, Rusticity, Tourism and Sports Infrastructure of Walloon Government René Collin, Managing Director of the Brussels South Charleroi Airport Jean-Jacques Cloquet, President of the Belarusian diaspora organization BELARUS TODAY Oksana Screve and others.
The guests of the event were President of the Administration Council of the Brussels South Charleroi Airport Laurent Leveque, Honorary Consul of Belarus to Belgium Karel Van Hoorebeke, Honorary Consul of Belgium Filip Vandenbroele, representatives of the Foreign Ministry of Belgium, activists of Belarusian communities in Belgium and Luxembourg, representatives of Belgian humanitarian organizations, business sector, tourist companies etc.
While addressing the audience O.Kravchenko and A.Mikhnevich stressed out that the direct Minsk-Brussels flight was launched in proper time given the increasing attention of Belgian and European citizens, international organizations and business people towards Belarus.
The Belgian representatives welcomed opening of a new geographical destination as well as expressed hope for strengthening interaction with Belarusian National Airline Company and enhancing contacts among tourist, humanitarian organizations, and citizens of the two countries.
