Presentation of the film about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War
23.04.2025 The Embassy of Belarus in Belgium hosted a screening of the documentary film about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War - “Death Camps”. The event was attended by heads and staff of diplomatic missions, representatives of Belgian business and federal government agencies, the European Parliament, the Belarusian diaspora.
In their opening remarks the representatives of the Embassy emphasized the contribution of the Belarusian people, the peoples of the former USSR, the countries of Europe, Asia and America to the common Victory over Nazism and militarism.
They noted that some countries today are trying to rewrite the history of World War II, to erase from memory the atrocities of Nazism and the contribution of the peoples of the former Soviet republics to the victory. The facts of genocide of the Belarusian people during the war were presented according to the investigation materials of the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus.
Stated that Belarus is a peaceful multicultural country that has never threatened its neighbors and consistently advocates peaceful resolution of current conflicts. At the same time, at present there is an increase in destructive rhetoric of a number of actors against sovereign states wishing to follow their own path of development, unjustified militarization of the EU and NATO member states bordering Belarus.
It was especially emphasized that the truth about these terrible events is a reliable shield against the reign of chaos, ideas of superiority, extreme nationalism and possible repetition of this terrible tragedy of the 20th century.
