Comment of Mission of Belarus to the EU in connection with anti-Belarus sanctions decision of EU of February 24, 2025.

26.02.2025

Another update of the EU sanctions package against Belarus, adopted in February 2025, demonstrates a clear inability of our European neighbors to take into account the new realities and act in the spirit of the times in the interests of peace and stability in the region.
The stubborn adherence of the European side to the previous narratives of political and sanctions pressure on the sovereign states, implementing independent policies, increasingly distances the EU leaders from the interests and expectations of their own citizens.
The EU's inertia in implementing of outdated methods of interaction with other members of the world community from the position of its own superiority risks to undermine the political unity and economic well-being of the European Union member states, as well as to become a serious obstacle to the establishment of a stable and long-lasting peace in our common region.
Belarus remains interested in the resumption of an equality-based dialogue with the EU and expresses the hope that the short-sighted desire of Western politicians to “save face” will not become an insurmountable obstacle to the adaptation of the European policy course to the rapidly emerging just and fair multipolar world order.
