Musical Evening of Belarusians in Belgium 2024 was held in Brussels
20.05.2024On May 18, 2024, the Musical Evening of Belarusians in Belgium 2024 was held in the small concert hall of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
A concert of professional musicians living in Belgium followed by a tasting of the Belarusian cuisine took place.
Violist Vitaly Mikhin performed Suite No. 1 in G major by I.S. Bach, as well as part I of the Sonata in E-flat major by J. Brahms with the piano accompaniment by Alexander Nazimov.
Aleksandra Dzenisenia on the cimbalom performed compositions by Vivaldi and works by the Belarusian composers: Viktor Voitik, Valery Zhivalevsky, Joseph Zhinovich and others.
In her remarks, the Chargé d’Affaires of Belarus in Belgium Ekaterina Shatokhina noted that holding musical evenings of Belarusians in Belgium has become a good tradition (three events in this format have already taken place). Chargé d’Affaires outlined the peculiarity of the current year for Belarus given the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. It was also mentioned that 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of “Belarusfilm” film studio, the 40th anniversary of the Minsk Metro and the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus.
The event took place within the framework of the subprogram “Belarusians in the World” of the State Program “Culture of Belarus” for 2021–2025.
