Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus
02.07.2024On July 1, 2024, the reception was held in Brussels on the occasion of Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, organized by the Embassy of Belarus in Belgium.
In her welcoming speech, Charge d'Affaires Ekaterina Shatokhina gave a brief historical excursion, focusing on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus and the contribution of the Belarusian people to the victory over fascism. After which she noted the achievements of modern independent Belarus, in particular its economic successes.
The words of Ekaterina Shatokhina were very clear that everyone chooses their own path:
“We are committed to the path of openness, cooperation and mutual respect. The European Union has chosen a policy of tension. And the package of sanctions adopted yesterday (29/06/2024) confirms this. But, despite the aspirations of some countries, we continue to develop and grow stronger, remaining an important player on the European continent.”
As part of the reception, there was a performance by the talented Belarusian cymbalist musician, winner of many international and national competitions, Alexandra Dzenisenia, who presented the public with works by Belarusian and foreign composers, as well as famous works of world classics.
There was also an art exhibition of the Belarusian author Anna Bryndza, who presented her paintings and products made using the “wool felting” technique.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps in Brussels, business and the Belarusian diaspora in Belgium.
