Visa Requirements

A visa request has to be submitted to the Consular Section of the Embassy with the following documents:

1. Passport in original (not a copy) with at least two blank pages. Term of validity of the document has to exceed the term of the requested visa for at least 90 days.

2. Duly completed visa application form (specifying the name and the address of the inviting person/institution (organisation) in Belarus) with two recent passport sized photographs, fixed to the marked place at the upper right-hand corner of the application form. The form must be filled in completely, no blank spaces should be left. If a question does not apply, please type “N/A”. Incomplete forms will be returned to the applicants UNPROCESSED. The form should bear the original signature of applicant and must be well readable. Please fill in the form in block letters.

3. Visa Support Documents (details are given below).

4. Additional documents, necessary to consider visa application (upon request of the Consul), for example:

  • If you formerly had USSR or Belarusian citizenship – documents proving the loss of USSR/Belarusian citizenship;
  • If applicant is a child under 18 years of age – a copy of child's birth certificate and copies of parents’ passport main information pages (with passport number, expiration date, photo etc.).

MEDICAL INSURANCE. On July 1, 2014 the new procedure and conditions of the obligatory medical insurance of foreign citizens and stateless persons travelling to the Republic of Belarus and temporarily residing in the Republic of Belarus was introduced. The visa applicants should submit the obligatory medical insurance policy of the Belarusian enterprises “Belgosstrakh” or “Beleximgarant”, foreign medical insurance policy, medical insurance card or other document that confirms its existence. The insurance certificate issued by a foreign insurance company should be valid on the territory of Belarus during the period of stay and should cover the insurance cases established by the Law of the Republic of Belarus. Medical insurance is not required for holders of Belarusian transit visas traveling to other countries via Belarus. REGISTRATION. During 3 working days after arriving in Belarus a foreign citizen should report the information about the address and duration of his/her stay to the local police station so that a registration stamp be put in his/her passport. If staying in a hotel, this will be arranged by the hotel services (reception bureau).

MIGRATION CARD. Please note that visas cannot be changed, extended or transferred. If your travel plans changed after the visa has been issued you have to reapply for a new visa. The visa decision can not be appealed. Visa applications are considered within five working days (one week). Express visas (processed within 48 hours) are charged with an extra fee (200%). If the application is not completed your visa application will not be processed. Visa processing starts only after the Embassy has received all the necessary documents.

Please also note that your visa application form and all relevant documents will only be considered after you provide us with a payment receipt for your visa fee.

According to the Belarusian visa regulation, the Consul may refuse to issue a Belarusian visa, or reduce the number of entries and the period of its validity. Explanations are not supposed to be given, the consular fee received is not returned.

TRANSIT VISA
(type B, period of validity of 48 hours) requires presentation of valid Russian or Ukrainian visa and other documents proving the necessity to cross the Belarusian borders on your way to the country of final destination (ticket, itinerary, etc.).


SHORT TERM VISA
(type C, period of visa validity 90 days maximum) with single, double or multiple entries:


a) FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES (without work permit) - formalized letter of support from the Belarusian institution/organization/firm. In general the Consul of the Embassy accepts copy of supporting document from the Belarusian supporting (inviting) party received by the applicants by fax. Short-term visa for a business trip should be obtained by foreign journalists, temporarily accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. Find out more…

IMPORTANT NOTICE. You are not required to submit any visa support documents to get a single-enty short-term visa for a business trip (without work permit) with period of validity of up to 30 days if you are a citizen of: 

  • any EU Member State, including Belgium;
  • Australia;
  • Andorra;
  • Argentina;
  • Bahrain;
  • Brazil;
  • Canada;
  • Croatia;
  • Chili;
  • Island;
  • Israel;
  • Norway;
  • Swiss Confederation;
  • Republic of Korea;
  • New Zealand;
  • USA;
  • Uruguay;
  • Republic of South Africa;
  • Japan.

Nevertheless, applicants could be required to provide additional support documents in case of any contradictions, discrepancies and inaccuracies found in their visa application.

b) FOR PRIVATE PURPOSES — formalized letter of invitation, issued by local Citizenship and Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Belarus, in original (specimen in Russian). In case of need the signature of the inviting party should be notarized at the Consular Office of the Embassy of Belarus. In several circumstances the Consul of the Embassy could accept other kinds of documents, confirming the purpose of visit.

IMPORTANT NOTICE. You are not required to submit any visa support documents to obtain a short-term visa for private purposes (visiting Belarusian relatives, friends, other private matters) with the period of validity of up to 30 days for 1-, 2- or multiple entries if you are a citizen of:

  • any EU Member State, including Belgium;
  • Australia;
  • Andorra;
  • Argentina;
  • Bahrain;
  • Brazil;
  • Canada;
  • Croatia;
  • Chili;
  • Island;
  • Israel;
  • Norway;
  • Swiss Confederation;
  • Republic of Korea;
  • New Zealand;
  • USA;
  • Uruguay;
  • Republic of South Africa;
  • Japan.

Nevertheless, applicants could be required to provide additional support documents in case of any contradictions, discrepancies and inaccuracies found in their visa application.

c) VISA WITH WORK PERMIT — formalized letter of support from the Belarusian institution/organization/firm in original and work permit, issued by the Minsk city or regional (Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk, Mogilev, Vitebsk) Branches of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Belarus in original or certified by a public notary office.

d) TOURISM (for a term of maximum 30 days) — formalized letter of support (specimen in Russian), received from a Belarusian tourist company, confirming the booking of the tourist cervices in Belarus. Short term visa for tourism could also be issued upon presentation of letter of support from the citizen of the Republic of Belarus and documents proving his/her right to render agro ecotourism cervices in Belarus. In general the Consul of the Embassy may accept a copy of the letter of support issued by the Belarusian tourist agency, as well as a copy of the letter of support from Belarusian national together with the documents mentioned above received by the applicants by fax.

IMPORTANT NOTICE. Short-term visa for tourist purposes requires presentation of a formalised letter of support RECEIVED ONLY FROM A BELARUSIAN TOURIST AGENCY.

e) STUDENT VISA (for a term of maximum 30 days) — the original of formalized letter of invitation from the Belarusian educational institution/scientific organization (specimen in Russian).

LONG TERM VISA
The period of validity for a long-term visa (type D) is one year for a term of stay not exceeding 90 days with multiple entries:


a) FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES (without work permit):


1) formalized letter of support from the Belarusian institution/organization/firm (specimen in Russian);

2) extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Persons and Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Belarus on the institution/organization/firm concerned;

3) copy of the agreement (contract, cooperation agreement) between the Belarusian institution/organization/firm and the foreigner or the foreign organization in which one works, confirming mutual business relationship of the parties, sealed by the stamp of the institution/organization/firm concerned;

4) document issued by the foreign institution/organization/firm proving the fact of the applicant's employment, formalized by the letterhead of the foreign institution/organization/firm and signed by the Head of the foreign institution/organization/firm concerned;

5) other documents proving information mentioned above (upon request of the Consul).

Visa applications for Heads of representative offices of foreign enterprises/companies/banks in the Republic of Belarus and members of their staff, as well as employees of particular foreign enterprises/companies/banks are considered upon presentation of the formalized letter of support from the concerned representative office in Belarus. The formalised letter also has to be approved by the Division of Export Support of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

b) FOR PRIVATE PURPOSES — formalized letter of invitation (specimen in Russian), issued by local citizenship and migration office of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Belarus in original.

DIPLOMATIC AND SERVICE VISAS
Visas marked as “Diplomatic visa” or “Service visa”  are issued by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as by diplomatic missions and consular posts of the Republic of Belarus worldwide. These visas may be issued to persons enjoying diplomatic or consular (and similar) privilege and immunity and who are staying in Belarus for official purposes. Applications for these visas shall be accompanied by a verbal note or letter of request from the relative foreign state establishment with specification of the purpose of entry and program of visit. This type of visas for forigners who travel to Belarus to work at diplomatic and consular missions of foreign states or diplomatic represetations of international organizations in Belarus is issued after 30 days from the date when all necessary papers are received by the consular service of the Embassy.


IMPORTANT NOTICE. If you fail to follow the above mentioned requirements, your visa application will not be processed. Visa processing starts only after all necessary documents are submitted.


When having received your visa please check it for mistakes (passport number, date of birth, validity) and, if necessary, return it to the Consulate for corrections.


The Consulate will not be responsible for any mistakes in the visas, which were not brought to our attention prior to your departure.
 

Please note that visas cannot be changed or extended. If your travel plans changed after the visa issuance you have to reapply for a new one.

Any visa applicant may be interviewed by a consular officer if necessary.

Medical insurance is required for all foreign citizens traveling to the Republic of Belarus.

The period of temporary stay of foreign citizens in Belarus is determined by the duration of their Belarusian visa and can not exceed 90 days a year starting from the date of entry in Belarus.

After arriving to Belarus please report in 3 business days the information about the address and duration of your stay to the local Passport and Visa Office of the Ministry of Interior and have registration put in the holder’s passport.

If staying in a hotel, this will be arranged by the hotel services (reception bureau).
