Charge d'Affaires of Belarus visits Luxembourg

02.09.2022

On September 1–2, 2022, the Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Belarus paid a working visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

During the visit the Chargé d'Affaires attended the opening of the exhibition Terre d'Origine — La Collection (“Land of Origin – The Collection”) of the Luxembourgish contemporary art duo Sandy Flinto & Pierrick Grobéty.

The authors of the project used inter alia a sample of soil from Belarus, previously delivered from Minsk by the Embassy and handed over to the artists.

In the annotation to the sample of the Belarusian soil, the authors mentioned the legend about the establishment of the city of Minsk related to the heroic healer Menesk, pointed out the heroic past of the Belarusian capital and the feat of its inhabitants during the Great Patriotic War.

For reference: the authors of the Terre d'Origine installation project collected soil samples from countries whose citizens live in Luxembourg. The project was presented as part of the “Night of Culture” program in the Luxembourg city of Esch-sur-Alzette. The exhibition is open to the public from 2 to 16 September 2022 at the art gallery of the Escher Theater.

The Charge d'Affaires also met with representatives of the Luxembourg authorities, the Belarusian diaspora and the diplomatic corps in Luxembourg.
