Delegation of Belarusian State University visits Belgium

08.04.2014

On 2-5 April, a delegation of the Belarusian State University (BSU) headed by its First Vice-rector Mr. M.A. Zhuravkov visited Belgium to take part in the conference “Changing Landscapes in Learning and Teaching”, organised by the European Association of Universities and hosted by the Free University of Brussels.

Apart from taking part in the main event the representatives of the BSU held meetings in the Directorate-General of the European Commission for Education and Culture and in the University of Ghent.

At the meeting with the representatives of the European Commission the Belarusian delegation discussed the possible participation of the BSU in the EU “Erasmus+” programme for education, training, youth and sport for 2014-2020 and country’s efforts to join the Bologna Process. During the talks at the Slavic and East European Studies Department of the University of Ghent the parties discussed a joint action plan for the forthcoming academic year, which is stipulated by the cooperation agreement signed by the two universities in 2012. The action plan envisages academic exchanges of students, lecturers and researchers.

The delegation of the BSU took part in the economic seminar, organised by the Belarusian Embassy in Belgium for the Belgian business and political community. The participants of the event were informed about programmes and courses for foreign students run by the BSU. The Belarusian delegation discussed ways to expand cooperation with the University of Mons and the use of the physical infrastructure of the BSU to implement joint alternative energy projects with the “Blue Planet Wind” company.
