Meeting of A.Mikhnevich with Vice-President of Wallonia W.Borsus

On February 10, the Ambassador of Belarus in Belgium A.Mikhnevich met Vice-President of Wallonia W.Borsus. The interlocutors noted that implementation of many joint projects aimed at developing bilateral relations has become possible due to warm and friendly relations established several years ago between both sides.

 

In 2018, W.Borsus as a Minister-President of Wallonia got acquainted with the products of MTZ and Gomselmash at the largest regional agricultural exhibition in Libramont which brings together farmers from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg. He expressed a positive impression of the potential of bilateral relations with Belarus, and the visit became a landmark in terms of advertising Belarusian technology in Belgium.

In 2019, with the direct support of the head of the Walloon region, the Embassy successfully held “Belarus-Belgium Contact Days” dedicated to cooperation in the African market (October 7) and joint efforts of specialists of Belarus and Belgium in the fight against cancer (Belgium, October 29-30; Belarus, November 4-7).

 

Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed the results and plans for the future. In particular, A.Mikhnevich and V. Borsus highlighted the preparation to the next “Contact Day” dedicated to the cooperation of Belarusian and Belgian universities and scheduled for February 18, 2020 at the University of Mons. They also agreed on steps to prepare similar events in the field of IT and innovation, which are supposed to be held in the second half of 2020.

A.Mikhnevich confirmed the invitation to W.Borsus to visit the Republic of Belarus. The Vice-President of Wallonia emphasized his readiness for the visit and asked to agree on convenient dates for both parties in the second half of 2020 — early 2021.
